About the Course
Animal Care sessions are offered by the staff at Lancashire Wildflowers Learning Hub CIC every Tuesday for 16 weeks. These sessions include excursions to pet shops, farms, and a zoo, as well as visits from professionals to the hub. The first scheduled trip is to Alpaca Farm on Tuesday, 24th March 2026.
The majority of the costs for teaching animal care and the excursions are included in the childcare fees. However, for more expensive trips, such as the zoo, parents may be asked to contribute where possible.
There is a £30 enrolment fee for the course, which is a one-time learner fee required when registering your child/children with Asdan.
Please ensure your child is attending the hub on a Tuesday if you are enrolling them on the Animal Care programme.
This Short Course accredits up to 60 hours of your Animal Care activities. It provides opportunities for you to develop Animal Care knowledge and skills and how to use them effectively.
We hope you enjoy choosing and completing the challenges and, as a result, become more confident in your knowledge of Animal Care issues.
The aims of the Animal Care Short Course are:
to help you develop and demonstrate a range of skills through your Animal Care activities and studies
to help you develop and demonstrate understanding of Animal Care issues
to allow you to gain credit for what you have learnt from a wide variety of activities both inside and outside formal education
