AWARD WINNING Social Enterprise!

Welcome to Lancashire Wildflowers – a warm, nurturing learning community based in Fulwood, Preston, supporting home-educated children, young people and those who need a different approach to education.
At Lancashire Wildflowers Learning Hub CIC, we offer flexible full-day sessions for children and young people aged 8–16. Our days blend life skills, creative learning, outdoor experiences and emotional wellbeing support, helping children grow in confidence, independence and self-belief. Activities may include cooking, money skills, forest-school style sessions, nature walks, art and craft, science experiments, games, interest-led projects, social time and opportunities to build friendships in a calm, supportive environment.
Alongside the Learning Hub, we also offer nurturing Alternative Provision for schools, local authorities and families looking for a more personalised, relationship-based approach. This provision is designed for children and young people who may be struggling in mainstream education, need a softer transition, or would benefit from smaller groups, trusted adults and a more flexible way of learning.
At Lancashire Wildflowers, we believe every child is unique. We offer small-group, mixed-age sessions where young people can move at their own pace, follow their interests and feel genuinely seen, heard and valued. Emotional wellbeing is woven through everything we do, from calm indoor spaces to grounding time outdoors, with a strong focus on confidence, communication, independence, resilience and real-world skills.
We work closely with families, schools and professionals to create personalised plans, support a wide range of needs and, where appropriate, help young people work towards qualifications, certificates and future goals. We also welcome skilled adults and practitioners into our setting to share their passions and experience, from animal care and outdoor learning to enterprise, creativity and life skills.
Our Learning Hub sessions can be booked flexibly, as and when required. Full days run from 8.30am–5.30pm and are £37 per child, including core activities. Sibling discounts are available, and full-week bookings are £150 per child. Private tutoring, specialist sessions and occasional trips or activities may be charged separately, and some opportunities may include parent/carer involvement.
Whether your child is home educated, needs a fresh start, or simply needs a place where they can feel safe, supported and able to grow, Lancashire Wildflowers is here to help them grow roots and wings.

Want to know why we chose the name Lancashire Wildflowers?
Why “Wildflowers”?
We chose the name Wildflowers because it reflects everything we believe about children and young people. Just like wildflowers, every child is unique, resilient, and capable of thriving in their own time and their own way — given the right space, care, and encouragement.
Wildflowers don’t need to be forced into rows to bloom beautifully. They flourish in diversity, strength, and freedom — and so do the young people we support. At Wildflowers, we celebrate individuality, nurture potential, and create environments where every child can grow with confidence, curiosity, and joy.

🌿 What is a Community Interest Company (CIC)?
Lancashire Wildflowers Learning Hub is a Community Interest Company (CIC) – a special type of not-for-profit organisation that exists to benefit the community, not private shareholders.
Being a CIC means:
-
Profits are reinvested, not taken out as dividends
-
We are legally required to put community benefit first
-
Our resources are protected by an “asset lock”, so they must always be used for community good
🌼 How this benefits children and families
For you and your child, being a CIC means:
-
Your fees go back into the hub
More resources, better equipment, trips, staff training and new opportunities for the children. -
Support where it’s most needed
When possible, surplus can help fund reduced-cost or supported places for families who need extra help. -
Stable, values-led provision
Decisions are based on what’s best for children’s wellbeing, safety and learning – not on profit. -
Rooted in the local community
We work with families, listening to your feedback and shaping the hub around the needs of local home-educating communities. -
Long-term commitment
Our aim is to build a nurturing, sustainable space that your child can grow with over time.

My daughter has been attending Lancashire Wildflowers Learning Hub for several weeks now after struggling to attend school. Being at home, my daughter really misses interacting with children her own age, but we have struggled to find home education and alternative provision opportunities which allow her to make friends with others. She absolutely loves Wildflowers and looks forward to it every week. She is starting to settle in and make friends and really enjoys the wide range of activities. She has also said she feels safe there which is important as she can become nervous and overwhelmed in new settings. Gemma and her team are kind, helpful, and take the time to understand your child’s needs, and have created a fun, safe environment where your children can learn new skills, make new friends and feel supported. She loves it so much, she wanted to attend during the holidays and has taken her sister too. Her sister has also given it the seal of approval, saying she wishes she could come every day.

This place is a huge blessing to my son who is 9 and myself his mum. My son has greatly struggled in 2 different mainstream schools before he started at wildflowers not getting the correct support or understanding he needed. Then we came across wildflowers it the perfect place and environment for my child. Who allow him to learn in the best way that works for him. The tailor everything around his needs. They are so nurturing and amazing my son only attended two days both days he had so much fun! I can also recognise my son has become fond of the lady who runs wildflowers. He tells me he has had a good day. It truly is like a gift from god this place.

I can’t recommend Lancashire Wildflowers Learning Hub enough. It opened at exactly the right time for our family, just when we needed it most.
After years of our son being unhappy and dysregulated in school, it has finally given him a safe and supportive space where he feels settled and able to learn.
We’re really grateful to Gemma and the team for everything they do. The difference in our son has been clear to see, and we’re so glad we found Lancashire Wildflowers.
